Crew

Producing a TV show about local musicians is exactly what Mike was meant to do. He just never really considered it until PDX Spotlight came along. After over 15 years in the corporate world of marketing – designing campaigns for large clients such as Best Buy, Disney, FedEx, Walmart & Staples to name a few, it was time for a change. What does this have to do with music or television production? Well…..nothing…but sometimes you realize that you should be doing something else with your life, something you love. Mike has always had a connection with music and as a native Oregonian gains enormous satisfaction from helping local musicians follow their dreams. Mike owns a small production company in Portland called Blue Sock Productions where he enjoys helping clients market their businesses, causes or capturing personal moments in their lives. He also serves as Executive Director of a youth focused non profit called UNCUT. If you would like to get in touch with Mike you can reach him at mike@pdxspotlight.com

John was born in the woods of northern Wisconsin the child of gnomes and wood people who had inhabited the area for hundreds of thousands of years. He has spent a good portion of his life searching for others like him. Most evidence is anecdotal, but on rare occasions a true lead turns into personal discovery. The picture you see was not one of those moments. But it was fun. Somehow along the way John managed to become an accomplished producer working for major news networks in the bay area and Portland.

Jeanot is our go to sound guy and is the main reason our show sounds as good as it does. After a couple seasons of tv studio sound, we realized we needed a professional and that's exactly who Jeanot is. As owner of JLR Audio Productions, Jeanot has been songwriting, performing, and recording music for over 20 years. Specializing in both recording in the comfort of his well-equipped studio or taking to the road to capture a live performance, Jeanot works in depth with PDX Spotlight producers and with the artist directly to produce the highest quality audio possible. As an artist himself, he understands the musician's process. His focus on creating relationships with artists based on their needs helps their unique musical vision become a reality.

Through his volunteer work and utilizing Portland Community Media resources and facilities, Orlando has established himself as one of the go to camera operators for PDX Spotlight. He is inspired by the creativity, dedication, artistry and enthusiasm demonstrated by the musical guests and the production crew on the show. This motivates him to continuously evolve his video production skills. Orlando continues to add value to the PDX Spotlight production in a number of different areas. When he’s not working on PDX Spotlight Orlando keeps busy by creating his own short films and considers himself an amateur animator. If that’s not enough, Orlando is a lover of classical piano and is beginning development of his own Piano focused TV show.

Martina was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic.  Her formative years were spent in defiance of a Communist regime as an activist and actress in the underground resistance in the arts, theater, and movies as well as protesting and marching in the streets.  During this time, she acted in film and theater, co-wrote a play, toured with a rock band, and danced on a table top with a future president. Later she decided to work on the other side of the camera as a production manager. She produced commercials for clients like Visa, Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Mattoni water, and worked on documentaries for RCN Network and CNN. She also helped with Rolling Stones musician Ronnie Wood’s art exhibition in Prague. Seeking new adventures she decided to travel abroad to study English and computer graphics in Berkeley. After returning to Czech she worked as a financial director for the largest Czech owned advertising agency.  Finally moving back to San Francisco she worked as a business/finance manager at a dot.com during the internet bubble. She is currently freelancing and helping with feature film financing projects and concert tours. Moving to Portland and stumbling upon PDX Spotlight has been another new adventure and she is enjoying meeting local musicians and working with a great crew of talented people. When she is not filming, she is standing on her head doing yoga, tending to her beehives, and raising two precocious young daughters. If you would like to contact Martina you can reach her at Martina@pdxspotlight.com
